When it comes to twist outs, there are two products that have never failed me.  Those products are Eco Styler Gel: Olive Oil and Design Essentials Curl Enhancing Mousse!  Both provide me with different results and I use them depending on the style I'm going for.  Eco Styler Gel provides me with a super defined twist out.  The style lasts phenomenally long (2 weeks with proper care, an additional week if you throw it in a puff or ponytail!).  The only downfalls are the fact that Eco Styer Gel can lead to partial flaking and it dries my hair out tremendously.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Eco, the dryness can be combated with oils, but its great to switch up products.  Design Essentials Curl Enhancing Mousse provides me with a tight, yet loose curl.  Way looser than an Eco twist out.  The curls look more luscious, due to more moisture being retained.  The Mousse provides more moisture than Eco.  The style lasts about a week.  The major take away with this product is that it retains moisture within your head and the twist out is just as bomb as if you were using Eco Styler Gel.  For the past two days I have done absolutely nothing with my hair so it was time for the next style.  Here's a step by step of how I did my latest twist out.  Usually this is done after I deep condition my hair, but this twist out was done on regularly washed hair.  Here we go!

So start with freshly washed hair. Towels are rough on your hair follicles so ring your hair out with your hands and keep it as wet as possible.  When you're regularly doing your hair, try to refrain from using a towel and just air dry.  Air drying is best for your natural hair, try staying away from hair dryers too.  Refrain from heat as much as possible!  Take Away Key:  Keep your hair wet for this style!

My hair's curl pattern is 4b,  thanks to my mom's 4c tight curl and my dad's much looser curl pattern.  I honestly don't play into the whole curl pattern thing, I just go with what works best for me.  Experimenting will give you the best results each time.  But for those curious, there ya go!

These are the products I used.  The Doo Gro and Hair Mayonnaise are for moisture.  I cannot stress this word enough!  My hair is prone to dry out so on wash days it is essential I pack my head with moisture so it is continually hydrated throughout the time frame I have my hair in a style.  The Mousse is of course to set my twist out, and the spray bottle is to keep my hair damp.  Twisting my hair usually takes at minimum 2 hours, so to ensure I have no dry sections, I keep the spray bottle on hand.

The front of my head has a much looser curl than the back.  Due to this, I usually do something different with the front, like braid it or put bantu knots in it, or a half up, half down type do.  Today however, I want to see how my entire head will look twisted up, so I'm parting my hair and twisting my entire head.  Part or style your hair as you wish and let's get started!

Doo Gro Mega Thick Growth Oil.  Its all that and more!  This product is amazing for thickness and growth.  Pop some hair vitamins, a multi vitamin and do weekly scalp massages with this! You should see drastic results!  My hair has always been the thickest thing on my body, but this magnifies the thickness.  Shrinkage is the Devil in curl form, but believe me, my hair is longer from whatever magical crack is in this oil ( and due to Gail and Earl Fuqua's genes).  Apply this first to your damp hair.  Massage it in your scalp and apply it throughout the sections you've put your hair in.

Hair Mayonnaise is my all time new favorite product!  It can be used as a deep conditioner as well as for daily moisture.  It smells amazing!  Use this after the Doo Gro. Apply it within the sections to lock in moisture.

After applying both moisturizers, comb through the section you are about to twist.  Use this baby, generously (a good 1-2 pumps) before you begin to twist.

A texture shot after my hair has been combed through.

In each section, grab a small section of your hair and separate it into two subsections.  Twist these sections to create your two strand twist.  I have no set number of twists that I put in my hair.  I just twist until my head is twisted up.  The more you have, the more defined your style will be.  I love definition, so I usually end up with a million, so much so that after I've taken down my hair, I still find twists left untouched days later.

The final product!  Twist outs are also more defined the longer they are left twisted up.  I'll probably leave these in my head for about two days.  I hate this stage when I'm walking around like a little boy, but its completely worth it.
