Creativity is often lost to mediocrity. Twist outs are my thing. Don't get me wrong they are my statement and staple hairstyle. They however cannot be my only hairstyle. If I'm not competing with anyone then I am in competition with myself. Myself was telling me, "Oh girl you can do better." So it was time for something new. Ever since I went natural, four years ago, spending my money on someone else doing my hair was far and between. So I scrolled through Pinterest and Instagram in search of my next masterpiece. I stumbled across this gorgeous girl and quickly discovered her mindset was aligned with mine. She braided her hair in cornrows going up her head. Then she made a braided ponytail with crochet box braids. It was gorgeous, fabulous and peaked my interest because no one on campus had the style. This blog post has been in my drafts for months so I was literally ahead of the "Lemonade Braids, Tribal Braids, Feed In Braids" movement. This woman was like me, creative, innovative. Instead of adding hair, she literally made the freaking ponytail. Yall know I was on a mission. The "Only Child" mentality in me had to have the style right then and now. Though I hate booking hair appointments, I can't cornrow to save my life. So I booked an appointment to get some cornrows slapped in my head and I went to the nearest beauty supply store to buy the ponytail necessities. This was my baby after......

I was feeling myself to the max! I had hang time! You know I was slanging! Your Curlfriend got the 22 inch box braids, I was for no playing of any games!

The casual swoosh of my baby hairs had become an art, that only could be admired by those of the highest high class.

To achieve the look, that's what the people want right?!

1. Braid your natural hair going upward for a high ponytail, or in the direction you desire your ponytail to hang. Put the ends in a ponytail holder.

2. Buy crochet box braids from your local beauty supply store. My look was done with 22 inch box braids. Choose a length you are comfortable with.

3. Buy a black ponytail holder, or a ponytail holder that blends with the color of your hair.

4. The crochet braids will have a small hole at the top of them, thread the braid through the ponytail holder and through the hole to tighten it.

5. You should end up with a ponytail holder full of box braids if done correctly.

6. Slap that ponytail holder on your ponytail cornrows girl!

7. Are you Beyonce yet?

8. You should be! Go be great girl, SLANG your new do!

More pics for the full effect, if you missed it.

Please, please, please follow this Beaut @hellownatural_beauty on Youtube and Instagram! She is the reason for this entire look! Thank you gorgeous!
